My 12-Week Journal - Week 5

Hello, it's me again.

I am really sorry for the late update.

After the exam was over, I continued working on my research project once again. Unfortunately, there has been obstacles, errors and problems with my work. But, I believe the long-awaiting results will come to me one day, as long as I work hard enough towards achieving it.

I attended a seminar organized by one of the research centres in the Department of Chemistry last Friday. The speaker is currently a professor from RMIT University, Australia and his name is Professor Suresh Bhargava. The title of the seminar was "Innovative Balance between Creativity and Productivity: Nano Engineered Sufaces for Sensing and other Applications".

The seminar was quite informative and Professor Bhargava has demonstrated the successful research findings of his team. The seminar has also demonstrated successes that we could achieve in the future.

I will continue working on my project during this semester break and attend seminars whenever I'm free.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for the next update.

My 12-Week Journal - Week 4

Hi, it's me again.

Sorry for the late update as I was having a camp in the past two days.

I have moved out from my hostel and am now living with my seniors. It has been quite fine staying at my new place of stay and I am progressively used/adapted to my current living place now.

As mentioned above, I attended a camp organized by the Buddhist Society of my university. The camp comprised quite a lot of activities like station games, "Amazing Race", and others. The objective of the camp was to provide a medium for all the campers to get along with one another as we are going to organize a series of activities as organizing committee when the school reopens.

The camp has also given me a chance to boost my spiritual/religious values. During the camp, I have gained more understanding about Buddhism through some lectures/talks by our "shi xiong" (seniors) and "shi fu" (teacher). I was also exposed to the morning and evening chanting sessions, which helped to guide us when we were praying during the session.

All in all, the camp was fun and meaningful in that it has helped us to forge friendship and bonds with one another and this will be helpful in organizing our future activities.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for the next update.

My 12-Week Journal - Week 3

Yesterday night, my friends and I helped in moving the belongings of our orchestra to a new place. It was quite tiring as we had to move a lot of things last night. After around 2 hours of moving the things, our orchestra has successfully got itself a new home!!! Although the new home is not as big as the old one, it still marks the start of our next journey in the upcoming semester.

And today, I have visited my future second home. I will be moving out from my current hostel very soon and will live with my seniors starting from July. And we were having a welcoming session just now. The session was great as it allowed me to get to know the seniors who are currently staying there. So next week will be the last week of my stay in my residential college.

The residential college has given me a lot of experience during my one-year stay in the college. It is where I had a chance to make new friends. It is also where I set my current goals and my dream. In addition, it is also where I started living on my own and develop my current mindset and perspective. All in all, the residential college has offered me a wonderful (and of course, tiring) first-year undergraduate life.

I guess that's all for today's sharing. Stay tuned for the next update.

My 12-Week Journal - Week 2

Sorry for the late update.

Last Saturday morning, I went for a walk around the campus and have been to the so-called "Bukit Botak" once again. This is the third time I have been there. The scenery of the KL city in the morning was, as usual, quite beautiful in that the city looked peaceful in the morning before everybody woke up and began doing their daily routines.

It took around 1 hour to reach the "Bukit" from my hostel and it was not really an easy task as I needed to walk for a very long distance and climb the “Bukit" to reach the top.

One more week to go before my final ends. I had a test for Calculus I today afternoon. I did quite badly and the time was not really enough. In the end, I left some parts blank. Well, let's hope that I can get at least B+ for the subject. So, wish me luck.

Stay tuned for the next update.

My 12-Week Journal - Week 1

Last Thursday, I attended a PhD candidature defense seminar given by one of my seniors in the Department.
The topic of the seminar was related to my current research project and the seminar was helpful in broadening my perspective in my current research field, i.e. computational chemistry.

Basically, the seminar discussed the application of computer software developed by scientists to solve chemical problems around us. The results we obtain from the field are most often helpful to provide further support to experimental evidence which has been found earlier.

My final is going to start next week. It is going to be a really rough challenge for me as I haven't really fully prepared myself for the coming final. Anyway, stay tuned for the next update.

An Apology for No Updates in the Past Two/Three Weeks

Hi all.

I am sorry for not updating the blog for almost three weeks as I had been having a really tight schedule to complete all the assignments before the semester final begins.

I will start updating the blog again. So, stay tuned for the next coming update. The next update will mark the start of the task "My 12-week Journal".

RSS Wrap Up Session - An Awesome Ending, A Start for the Next Journey

Yesterday was the RSS Wrap Up Session organized by SERU and Abang Mirul.

To me, the session was awesome!

During the wrap up session, I heard from others about what they have learned from the coaching sessions conducted previously. All of us have learned different things and lessons from the sessions. Listening to the responses given by other members have helped me to broaden my perspective once again.

The end of the wrap up session marks the beginning of the next journey, My 12 Weeks Journal. We were given a log book or "journal" at the end of the session. In the book, we are expected to record down all the readings/activities we have done/joined every week. Also, we are also expected to post them on the blog. This is to ensure that all of us are able to continue developing ourselves in our life.

In conclusion, the session was meaningful. And I hope to meet all other members again in the next session.

So, stay tuned for the next update. Thanks.
